In-Depth Knowledge
The three pieces in this section demonstrate my emergent knowledge of a range of issues in a specific doctoral focus area that emphasizes both the conceptual and theoretical components to Adult Education. Artifact Four, a roundtable abstract presented at the national Canadian Association for the Study of Adult Education (CASAE) 2018 conference, is a collaborative study in which, as the lead author, I create my first opportunity to be directly involved in innovative research and, feasibly, pave the way for my first publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Artifact Five, the Evaluative “Review of Multiliteracies: New Literacies, New Learning”, is a framework that fits as a theory that helps one to understand different approaches to literacy and builds on critical understanding of the discourses of work and power, a kind of knowing from which more egalitarian conditions might emerge. Artifact Six was inspired by Focused Educational Studies (GEDU 9004) and my aim was to carry out a comparative analysis of critical theoretical perspectives of five different theorists that may provide insights into how educators can develop the capacity to critically engage in learning across their lifespan in order to inform their own teaching practices.
